The daily practice that will change your life.
Do you ever find yourself skeptical of doing something because so many people have told you to? I don’t know if it’s the inner rebel in me or a healthy skepticism towards anything too trendy, but man do I feel this way. There are certain things that are undeniable in making you feel better and possibly even happier. On that list: exercising, being social, better sleep, healthier diet… the list goes on. Does that mean we do them all the time? Absolutely not. But we know that if we DID, we’d probably snag some benefits.
I’ll admit that I can be a little wellness obsessed at times. I mean who doesn’t want to learn about the latest in what could make them feel better, brighter, happier? I don’t subscribe to it all - but I dabble. And I’ll tell you, after hearing enough from thought leaders, podcasts, and books, JUST how powerful a gratitude practice was, I had to give it a go myself. I entered into it with a healthy amount of skepticism. And here are 4 things I learned:
Focusing on what you have takes an enormous amount of focus off what you don’t have.
Perspective is everything.
We are most powerful when we live through a frame of abundance (vs scarcity).
Many (if not most) of us are on autopilot. A dedicated gratitude practice enriched my life with more thoughtfulness and appreciation. I was more present.
Sounds great, right? I know you’re all now thinking: that sounds nice and I don’t have the time. Listen, you can write this down each day (my recommendation) or even just say it out loud to your partner or friend at the dinner table. It’s maybe 5 minutes of your day. You have the time.
Write down:
3 things you’re grateful for today
3 things that you’d like to make happen that day
And if at the end of the day, you want to bookend with:
3 happy things that happened today
Any way you could have made it better / or a learning
That’s it. Try it and tell me how this impacts you!
